They are Afraid
So don't let the officials intimidate you
It’s visible in their flushed cheeks and shaking, raised hands, and in how they lean towards us. It’s audible in their shaking voices and how they keep trying to cut off the words we’re speaking. Don’t ask the question! Don’t say what’s true!
MAGA doesn’t belong to Donald Trump. It doesn’t even belong to Republicans. The president articulated a truth written in our hearts: America belongs to those who work for it. It belongs to those who will not be intimidated into silence. It belongs to those who will not submit when bullied or jailed.
America belongs to the free. Freedom requires responsibility. Too long we have set that responsibility down, and foolishly thought that all people believed in freedom. That was a mistake.
The authoritarian urge is part of all humanity. The urge to gather resources is a survival instinct. The need to conserve energy is biological. Pride, greed, laziness are the deadly sins of humanity. As Solzhenitsyn [author of The Gulag Archipelago] said: the line between good and evil cuts across every human heart.
However, we can choose. Laziness doesn’t own us. We can choose to step up and take responsibility for what we can. Greed doesn’t own us. We can give our hard earned resources and our precious time to those in need. Pride does not own us. We can bow before mystery of what is greater than we can understand.
We have allowed the prideful, the greedy, the lazy, to get control of our government. Gifted by our ancestors with a Constitution and a Republic, we charged into our future with unbridled optimism and built not just more wealth than the world had ever seen, but a way for people who were different to live together.
Making America great again isn’t about reclaiming manufacturing, or stopping wars. [although those are certainly good.] It’s about reclaiming who we were. It’s about taking responsibility. It’s about protecting the innocent. It’s about being humble enough to realize we don’t know everything and admit when we’re wrong. MAGA is about showing who we are and taking responsibility for what we can do.
For too long, we have allowed a professional class of the worst part of humanity to creep into our precious republic and to twist our Constitution. It was almost unrecognizable.
No more. We are done with lies. We are done with unearned wealth. We are done with hubris.
Our politicians know it, and they are afraid. Afraid we’ll reclaim what they’ve been stealing. Afraid we will expose their lies. Not only the lies they’ve told us, but the lies they tell themselves.
Americans fought a Revolution to win the right to live by words laid down by our Founding Fathers. Americans fought and died in the Civil War to ensure those words applied to all people. The right to speak freely and worship as we choose. The right to protect ourselves. That spirit is not dead. It lives on in every American who stands up and confronts the lies, in every American who takes responsibility, and every American who offers to serve a cause greater than their personal desire.
We are MAGA and we will no longer tolerate lies or theft or arrogant authoritarianism. We will not be told to sit down and shut up. We will not be taxed against our will. We will not give respect to illegitimate leaders.
This our country. In America, truth has a haven, responsibility is rewarded, and our connection to the divine is nurtured. We must lead, or the world falls to darkness.
