This is where we post what happens at the meetings, and what you can do to help turn CT back toward values and prosperity.
The regular meeting was supposed to be Tuesday, but two out of four of us were very sick! So you get this update instead.
No matter what we’re talking about on any given week, getting people registered to vote is a big priority. That can be done online, or at your local town office. Making the commitment to get out and vote is in no way trivial. If you aren’t registered, get on that.
SO many people on X want Scott Presler to come to their state and do for them what he did in PA. His handle on X is ThePersistence. Quite aside that he’s just one person, what he did isn’t that complicated, it just takes - persistence. This is something we can do for ourselves. Something we SHOULD do for ourselves. What he did was begin to create an engaged voter base, something sorely lacking in CT.
I had a nice chat with Ellis Dukeheart, a man who’s worked with Scott since 2023, and is still at it. Just because Trump won the election, doesn’t mean he stopped. He won’t be sending his daughters to public school because there are still plenty of places that are selling ‘woke.’
So, here’s Scott’s methodology.
Ideally, find places where people with Constitutional values hang out. For example, gun stores and shows, churches, farm shows and farmstands, knife shows, and camping/outdoor expos. These are places where voter registrations can be collected.
Ask the organizer/owner/pastor if you can 1) leave voter registrations there, 2) if you can set up a table on thier most busy day 3) If you need to be non-partisan.
Ellis said that it’s very helpful to look up upcoming local elections - such as for school board - and have some flyers made up about where and when that vote will happen. [He gets Grok - the AI on X - to do this for him.] This gives him a reason to talk to people, even if they’re already registered to vote.
He tailors his approach and presentation depending on the venue. For some places, he goes all out MAGA and for some he’s totally non-partisan depending on the needs and preferences of his host. Ellis favors handwritten signs and patriotic themes. He’s also perfectly willing to hang out at grocery stores or the post office to get people registered.
The idea is to create an engaged electorate.
CT Common Sense already has a couple members who are committed to going to shows but we’ll need all hands on deck.
What can you do?
Make a list of gun stores in your town or close by. Either pass them on to us or walk in tell them you’re pro 2A, and see if they’d like to help by offering voter registration with every gun sale.
Make a list of churches in your town or close by.
Look up when your next school board meeting or election is
Find out about any festivals or gatherings in your town where a voter registration booth would be welcome.
It’s heard to get exact numbers on how many unregistered voters there are in CT, but Grok AI puts it at between 475,000 and 500,000. That’s a LOT of people for a small state. And that says nothing about voter participation.
A few years ago, I asked my hard-working neighbor across the street if he voted. “Nah. I don’t get involved.”
Democrats have gotten away with ripping us off because of this attitude. Our goal should be to help create an engaged electorate.
